As the year 2013 draws to a close we’d like to wish you and your family the very best for the new year 2014. We would also like to take this opportunity to reflect on the year gone by here at Bel Aire Senior Living.

Bel Aire Senior Living 2013 Recap

Well it is time to recap our year here at Bel Aire Senior Living. I have asked the management to share some of their favorite memories from this past year.

Bel Aire's President - Steve Sabins summed it up nicely in these words:

"Since we remodeled and enlarged our building 4 years ago, it has been a wonderful time of growth and accomplishments. This past year we have matured in our operations, we've come together as a team as we worked to provide the best environment and service for our residents. With the new year at our doorstep we look forward to building an even better and stronger Bel Aire community where our residents can thrive and we hope that 2014 will be even more fulfilling and prosperous than this past year."

Bel Aire's Care Director said:

"One of my favorite memories this past year was the National Assisted Living Week here at Bel Aire. We had a fun barbecue event for all residents, their families and staff. But I must say that all the events throughout the year that brought families together have brought a wonderful spirit of love and happiness. When you see the residents interacting with their family members, you get to see them from a different perspective that changes our outlook at what we do here everyday. "

"There are so many things I love about Bel Aire, but I must say that really like the new look and feel of the website I am so glad I have the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful team and I look forward to the new challenges of 2014. One of my goals for the upcoming year is to build a large online network that will provide support and encouragement to caregivers nationwide - expanding the mission of Bel Aire well beyond it's physical boundaries."

Food Service Manager said:

"The excitement and joy of serving our residents and their family members a delicious Thanksgiving Dinner this year was definitely one of the the most memorable moments for me. Seeing the smiles through the tears of joy on some of the resident's faces warmed my heart. I am so glad we host this wonderful dinner each year and I am already looking forward to serving it again in the fall 2014."

 Care Coordinator said:

" 2013 was a challenging year for me personally because of my battle with cancer, but I kept my hair, my job & my sanity during 6 weeks of chemotherapy thanks to my supportive co-workers. I have learned that I can tackle any problem when I am not alone."

 Memory Wing Activities Coordinator said:

"Bel Aire stands above the crowd when it comes to caring for those with Alzheimer's disease. I really enjoy making their days a little brighter. Just this past Fridayone of our residents said to me " I like the sound of your voice and I am lonesome and I love you". Moments like those make my day and I know that my contribution makes a difference here."

Activities director said:

"This was a very busy year. Once again, our Mother's day brunch was a big success. Our residents had a nice opportunity to visit with their loved ones, the food was great thanks to Kathleen and her staff and to our wonderful volunteers. One of my favorites this past year was our trip to the zoo. What a better way to start off the summer. We had a lot of fun, the weather was perfect and our lunch was delicious. I am already looking forward to all the fun and activities we will do in 2014."

Here is a short recap of some things that happened outside of Bel Aire.

Hypercar of the Year + Jeremy Clarkson's (Top Gear) Car of the Year: McLaren P1

2013 has been quite a year for cars. From the McLaren P1 to the VW XL1, from the BMW i3 to the insane Peugeot T16 Pikes Peak racer, we've been treated to cars that have pushed the very boundaries of possibility. Clarkson says: "The P1 shows us that what we thought was acceptable... isn't. It's the giant leap. It's the renaissance, the change of direction that will take us at 217mph to a bright new future..."
