History of Memorial Day: Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who died in our nation's service. It was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. This year please take a minute to honor family, friends and neighbors who died protecting our freedom.

A Mother's Love: "The bond between mothers and their children is one defined by love. As a mother's prayer for her children are unending, so are the wisdom, grace and strength they provide to their children." Happy Mothers Day!

Appreciating America's Military: May is a month to appreciate warmer days, sunshine and all that comes with spring. And since 1999, its also designated as Military Appreciation Month, a time to formally and publicly thank and support the men and women who have served or currently serve serve to protect our freedom and liberty.

Created from the simple idea of gathering American around its armed forces to show gratitude and solidarity, the month of May was chosen because it already includes the most military- related commemoration days: Loyalty Day, Victory in Europe (VE) Day, Armed Forces Day, Military Spouse Appreciation Day and most well-known, Memorial Day.

Walking Day: We started a walking group, and the ladies love it! They all enjoy the talks, the pretty flowers blooming, and the sing-along while walking with June.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt: Thanks to all who made this year's egg hunt a success! The weather was perfect, the treats were yummy and everyone had a good time.
